Our Story

Cheer Up Founder: Theresa Griffith

2022 Forty Under 40 Honoree, Owner of Top Cheer Talent (Cheer Training Program), Cheer Coach with 10+ Years of Experience

Theresa came up with the idea for Cheer Up in 2022. She knew she wanted to create a brand that prioritized mental health and budget-friendly apparel. Other cheerleading apparel on the market is so expensive that it consumes most, if not all, of the yearly budget allotted to cheerleading teams.

Theresa decided to create an uplifting, affordable clothing line for cheerleaders and young people looking for encouragement in their everyday wear.

The Cheer Up Logo

During a very trying time in Theresa’s life, her dog Molly (pictured in the logo) was a source of hope and cheer for Theresa. They were both recovering from health complications and on an 8-month RV road trip, they had a pit stop in San Diego, California. Theresa felt inspired in San Diego. It was a place of healing for her and Molly and it was also the place that reconnected her to her cheer career.

The cart transports Theresa back to her time in San Diego, watching the most beautiful sunsets with her puppy Molly by her side. What’s more, Cheer Up is a mobile business so the cart represents Theresa’s vision for Cheer Up to expand and reach multiple people and places as it continues to grow.

A Partnership with TURN90 Print Shop

Cheer Up supports the local community through sale AND purchase. Our shirts are locally-sourced from TURN90 Print Shop, a company that provides cognitive behavioral classes, supportive services, transitional work, and job placement for men facing obstacles to success after prison.

In 2011, TURN90 was founded in Charleston, SC by Amy Barch. The program has become so successful, a second location opened in October 2021 in Columbia, SC.
